Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, December 23, 2009...

Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. Without further adieu, here are my Rants and Raves from the past week:

Rant: Shopper in a Walmart parking lot. The Walmart by my house is in a plaza that includes a liquor store, Staples and Japanese restaurant. I was going to the liquor store and parked far away from Walmart. I'm in my car, about to leave (back up lights on) when a Walmart shopper (parked next to me) decides to open her car door. To get to her car she would have seen the lights, but if she hadn't, she definitely saw me in the car. She was taking her time (she wasn't pulling out yet) and I saw I could back out without hitting her or the minivan. I'm slowly pulling out and bump into something. Her cart. No damage, but really? How do you miss the back-up lights? Why not put the cart on the other side of your van WHERE - THERE - WAS - NO - OTHER -CAR? She moved slowly to move the cart.

Rave: I went to Walmart on Saturday morning to pick up a present and no one was there. I also called them prior to ensure they had the game I wanted and they did. I was surprised they picked up the phone, but they did.

Rave: The fun dream I had last night. I dreamt I set up Justin Timberlake and Oprah. They were having an engagement party and I was invited. I was wearing these shoes (most uncomfortable and ugly) and every fashion magazine was snapping a picture of my feet as I became a trendsetter. This dream cracked me up. I like comfortable shoes, rarely shoe shop and could care less about them (I can imagine all the people cringing at this comment -- also, I'm in yoga pants and slippers at the moment). Best part is waking up with the song SexyBack in my head. Very fun song to start the day with (no, I don't have an alarm clock that plays music).

Rant: Listening to a store salesman yell at a customer (the store had only been open for 15 minutes) instead of walking 10 feet to help her. All I heard was "yes, that bookshelf, now further down, no further, to your right" it was a bit longer and actually made giggle and fear help from this guy as he was a screamer and very hyper.

Rant: Christmas season wouldn't be complete without one rant about drivers on the road. This one is about the entitled driver. The person that thinks I'm too good to wait in the line of cars to go straight so I'll zip up in the left turn lane and cut off people because I'm too important to wait. Yeah, these people suck.

Rave: Christmas shopping done and we got our tacky gifts. One is tacky and made us both laugh - can you say perfect?

That's it for me. Okay, I'm in the process of chopping and simmering so very little time to think. But I would love to hear if you have any Rants and Raves you want to share? I would love to read them. Just click on the linky thing for anyone that wants to participate in Rant and Rave Wednesday -- or leave them in the comments section here. Please be respectful and do not use the linky thing if you are just promoting your blog (yes, this is another Rant of mine).

Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, February 25, 2009....

If it's Wednesday, it must be Rant and Rave day. Without further adieu, here my Rants and Raves for the past week:

Rave --- Seeing Kathy Griffin in concert. My sister treated me to Kathy Griffin tickets last Thursday in NYC. She was awesome! The show was sold out and she was high energy for 2 hours. She mocked others, herself and I love the fact that she's still in awe of celebrities. An added bonus was that she promoted the "Vet Dog" cause hoping her show raised money to train dogs for injured Vets.

Rave --- I got to spend time with my sister and that is always fun. I'm very fortunate to have a wonderful sister that is also one my closest friends.

Rave --- Got to see two of my fav NJ friends Friday morning. They served me a great breakfast and made me laugh.

Rant --- Idiot drivers on the Merritt Parkway. Here's the scenario, two lane highway and the State closed a lane down. Signs everywhere and you have the standard drivers that wait till last minute to switch lanes. However, what annoyed me, was the woman getting on the roadway - traffic moving 10 miles per hour and a sign in her visual stating left lane closed. She passes people on the shoulder and cuts me off by inserting her car perpendicular in front of mine. I think she did this because she was in my blind spot. Whatever her reason, she wedged her way into the left lane....for 50 feet before realizing she had to get back into my lane. She actually thought I would let her in. Hello??? Are you smoking crack? I let 2 cars in because it helps to move traffic, but I wasn't going to let rude lady in. My rule of thumb is...let one person in and traffic will run. She kept trying and I shook my head and she almost hit me. Ugh..rude people don't belong on roadways.

Rant --- Okay, another driving one - why do people drive in the passing lane when they are driving under the speed limit on a two-lane road?

Rave --- My mom's nursing home took pity on my dad and he is able to visit my mom.

Rave --- Second interview went well.

Rant --- I think the company has a hiring freeze on the position (story of my life)

Rave --- Got confirmation for Kirpalu weekend workshop with sister.
