Today begins my 8th day of my Quantum Wellness Cleanse, or what I like to call my Quantum Leap Cleanse, and I'm still doing it.
For the first few days, I MISSED my diet cola. I had headaches and was unusually tired, but I got over that. However, what I can't get over is how much I miss eggs.
It's puzzling to me, but everyday, at some point in the day, I'm longing for a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. I have to admit, bacon and real cheese and bread is something I would enjoy, but it's the egg I fantasize about most. Go figure.
In addition to the food part of this cleanse, I'm really enjoying meditating. I've meditated on-and-off for a number of years, but making it a priority in my day is great! However, I will admit, the days I was going through my caffeine withdrawals, I, ummmm.... feel asleep in the middle of the practice.
I started walking with hubby at night, but now that it is very cold in Connecticut, I'll be heading to the gym.
Other parts of the cleanse include visualization with action, decluttering, massage and it may even include yoga (I got close to watching a yoga dvd, but didn't).
I've noticed that I'm a bit calmer, at peace and am able to focus a bit more, but will I go vegan? Highly doubtful since I dream about eggs.

Yay, that's great you're noticing a difference already. Who knows, maybe after this you'll WANT to limit your diet more or something to maintain the feeling.
Well apart from eggs. :) I mean you need those coveted foods right? Me, I couldn't live without them or cheese. In fact, I have this thing for Kraft cheese slices. Seriously, I don't know what it's about, I used to hate those things. But nowadays they're my fave quick snack if I get peckish at night or something. A one of those (the thick ones are best) and an apple. Yes please. No one could prise that combo out of my sweaty pink hand. :)
nice. glad to hear this is going well for you...and the head aches will go away eventually...
Veg Ass - I may change my diet up some, but I am a true carnivore! Love meat, bacon and hotdogs. I think most of my friends thought I'd only be able to last a day.
I do love experimenting and will definitely be eating more veggies and probably swap out chicken stock for veggie stock. But vegan products can be expensive.
I'd only let you come to the bathroom if you volunteered to hold my hair back while I puke. But, I agree with your concept of ruling out the real boring people in minutes.
Brian - Headaches finally have gone away. Biggest issues are that I'm not eating enough protein and am tired and I keep forgetting to drink water.
Eggs are yummy but I would be dreaming about the bread. Sourdough...mmm!
JJ - I thought I'd be craving something more exciting. I'm totally mystified by wanting eggs over easy with toast.
When my husband told me he was thinking getting a burger @ this great burger joint, I told him I didn't care if he ate it in front of me.
I did tell him, if he ate an egg over easy, I'd wrestle him for it.
My daughter went vegan for 2 years and I was astounded at her willpower. She's someone who lives for desserts, and as you know it's tough to find vegan desserts, at least not in a huge variety.
Good luck!!! (It's the bacon I would miss most out of the things you've mentioned.)
LMB, I dream about eggs all the time....I would love to try a cleanse, are there ones out there for beginners that you know of?
Good for you! Maybe you can make an egg your object of focus during meditation...
No Diet Coke would be a deal breaker for me. But keep up the good work. Glad you're feeling good.
Cheers, jj
BV – Surprisingly, I thought I would miss sweets, but don’t. Since I’m giving up dairy and going gluten free, I don’t bother even looking through the ingredients on a vegan dessert. I did make a great baked apple using cardamom, cinnamon, ground ginger & agave nectar. I poured over gf waffles, drizzled cashew cream over it with chopped cashews and it took any sweet edge I was having. I’m truly missing chicken – eggs, stock and the bird itself.
I think if I were to flip, I’d be a vegetarian, but never a vegan. I find it interesting your daughter did it for 2 years and then flipped back.
Maria.palermo – The whole point of a cleanse is to shock your system. I’m a beginner and I just dived into it because I realized how little time I was doing it for in the overall scheme of life.
Logical Libby – Okay, that was just mean….but, very funny.
Joanna – I thought for me too, but I’ve gotten the caffeine free version on day 3 and probably today and am doing okay. Seltzer with add’l lime or lemon juice is refreshing…but, I know what you mean about missing the DC.
