Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, February 24, 2010....

Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. Without further adieu, here are my Rants and Raves from the past week:

Rave: I saw Kathy Griffin last week and she was great! Her bit on Hoarders and Steven Segal's show had me hysterically laughing. Anyone who watches Hoarders would completely understand that even the opening credits has you want to jump off your couch and CLEAN.

Rant: Monday the 15th, I get a phone message from local police department starting off with something like this: "This is a message about Homeland Security. We're looking for 2 suspects in your neighborhood who robbed a home and are on foot." Okay, what does have to do with Homeland Security? Are they planting bombs? Wanting to know more, I call the cops and am told not to worry. I am told they are not far from being caught. According to the news report that evening, they don't know their names and no arrests have been made. So. How is this close to them being caught?

Rant: Friday the 19th, the police are pounding on my door. I find out that while I was in NYC and hubby away for the evening, my new neighbors were robbed (the house is empty and undergoing renovations). I thought an arrest was imminent? Guess not. [Note: robberies are rare in my neighborhood. I was the last house robbed in 2001, but it was an inside job by a cleaning crew I hired for a furnace puff back cleanup].

Rave: My hubby completely knew he was in the doghouse last night and made the effort to really pitch in and do things. He now knows that when I say I don't want to cook tonight, it's take-out or dinner out.

Rave: Coffee with a friend last week whom I haven't seen in about a month. It was great to catch up and see her really happy.

Rave: Friend came over last night to catch up and watch a movie. I was happy that we were able to do this. She's practically a single mom with 2 kids so time out for her is rare.

Rant: My friend who came over last night out found out last Thursday that her landlord sold the house she's renting. She has till 3/15 to find a place, pack up everything and move. I told I'd help her, but she's horrible at accepting any help. I hope she takes me up on the offer.

Rave: Restaurant week starts up on the 28th in a neighboring town. It's the first time the town is doing it and it will be nice to try a new place for a person on a very limited budget.

That's it for me. I would love to read any Rants and Raves you want to share? Just click on the linky thing for anyone that wants to participate in Rant and Rave Wednesday -- or leave them in the comments section here. Please, please be respectful and do not use the linky thing if you are just promoting your blog (yes, this is another Rant of mine).

You are actually luck that hubby is in the doghouse for something that small, not a marriage-wrecking thing!

Sounds like my neighborhood... my friend was appalled that I didn't have my key the other day and told her we'd have to go in the front door (usually reserved for visitors and solicitors) cos it was open.

now I'm locking the door cos y'all know it was open!!! hahahahaha

Okay that's insane about the cops & homeland security!!! I hope everything is okay, I don't wanna say put a chair under the door but be careful.

I heard Kathy Griffin really is funny, just her show sometimes just lacks! Restaurant weeK? Sounds cool! I Wish they would do that where I live! =)

Homeland security?? Maybe they're looking for Beaker.....

Are you sure that Homeland Security weren't looking for you and the Hub??? just a thought...
I think that bit about your friend's landlord selling the house from under her is shocking, and cruel.
My folks like to sometimes do a 'gastronomic tour' and try out new restaurants, my sister calles it the 'piggout tour'- in case you are interested!!!

Whenever a cop tells you not to worry ... well, you know ;)

Your raves outnumber your rants so that is a good week. Too bad about your friend's bad news from the landlord. That is when being on a lease and not month to month would be a help. You are a nice friend to offer to help her with the move.

Lovely raves this week... catching up with friends over coffee, a movie or cocktails is always so fantastic!
I hope the burglars are caught -- sounds like your police dept. isn't really sure what's going on! And that, to me, sounds similar to our dept! Ugh.

Kathy Griffin can be pretty funny. I have never seen those shows, but imagine that Segal is making a fool out of himself.

Seems that Hubbys are frequently in the doghouse.

Glad hubby pitched in and is out of the doghouse! Men sure do end up in the doghouse a lot.
That's very unnerving about the calls from police re: robberies. They're having a huge problem in town I read this past week.
What is the town with restaurant week?!

Moving is never fun but it can be a lot nicer with friends at hand. Here' hoping that your friend will let you assist.

The homeland security announcement was probably a condition of the grant that enabled the reverse 911 phone system.

Rant: the weather is picking on ME specifically, as we are about to get hit with more snow.

Rant: I'm sick of snow.

Rant: My ex will use the snow to make it a pain to pick up my son.

I could go on like that (I feel much more RANTY than ravey today). But--

Rave: sorry, I had one there for a second but I forgot it. Seriously, I did.

I'm glad that your hubby figured out that no cooking means, NO COOKING! :)

After the above, I decided to give it a better try on my blog, and try that Mr. Linky thing. I guess it worked!

Rave: On vacation through Sunday. B&B in Maine is totally charming and they have an awesome selection of tea.

Rant: Drive to totally charming B&B in Maine sucked because it rained from start to finish and I hate driving in the rain.

Rave: Kathy Griffin rocked! The Hoarders riff she did - hysterical.

Rave: So far have not slipped during Lent. For everyone who follows this blog, I decided to give up chocolate.

Sometimes it takes us hubbies to learn our lesson. We are slow learners.

I wish your friend lots of luck finding a new place. It's awful to have to move when it's not your choice.
