Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, January 6, 2010...

Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. Without further adieu, here are my Rants and Raves from the past week:

Rant: I hate Cablevision for the way they handled the lost of the Food Network and HGTV Channels. Their inability to come to a compromise with Scripps is one thing, but their notification process to subscribers is another. It was unprofessional and I'm in the process of dropping them as my cable and Internet provider.

Rave: People listened to Beaker and voted for me in Jules' Out-of-Tune competition and I want to thank you for it. I won't know until later this evening if Beaker makes it to the next round, but even if we don't, I appreciate you taking the time to vote.

Rant: My car hates the cold and won't cooperate with me. It is being stubborn and not starting. My car is not my friend today.

Rave: Saturday, I'm going into NYC with 2 friends to meet YogaGirl to attend a NYTimes lecture series. Originally, the judges from Top Chef were speaking, but Tom had a conflict and Eric Ripert is stepping in for him. I love him, his show and if you ever get the opportunity to eat at his restaurant do it. The service and food are outstanding.

Rave: I'm happy 2009 is behind me. The beginning of the year always brings this unspoken hope that wonderful things are yet to happen. This year, I definitely know things will be different.

Rant: I hate chain emails. I hate receiving emails telling me if I don't forward to 1000 people in the next 10 minutes my head will explode. I delete these emails. I know I'm tempting fate, but my head is still intact.

That's it for me. I would love to read any Rants and Raves you want to share? Just click on the linky thing for anyone that wants to participate in Rant and Rave Wednesday -- or leave them in the comments section here. Please be respectful and do not use the linky thing if you are just promoting your blog (yes, this is another Rant of mine).

Chain Emails freak me out. I know it's superstitious nonesense but I hate when i get them cuz I never send them out. Who needs extra bad karma ya know?

Omg I hear you on the HGTV nonesense. The new commercials explaining what happened are bogus. The fact that the words, "Hostage", "Punish" are in a commercial is driving me insane. I miss the channels alot.

I hope you car starts & Ooo have fun at the Top Chef lecture!! =)

Haha. I LOVE your rant about chain emails. I am the exact same way when it comes to them [and text chain letters - even more annoying on the phone!]. I love the people who religiously send them on and actually believe things may or may not change. Ah. I would much rather tempt fate by clicking the delete button. :)

I told you to get Directv!!! I love your rants and raves this time they are right on par with mine!! I am sorry about your car, we had to get some work done our Passat this week =/

I used to have nightmares about chain emails. I really thought that Little Sally Jones was going to come back from the dead and kill me in my sleep if I didn't forward the message to 15 people.

Now I just have nightmares about being abandoned by Cablevision. Haha

I like your rants...as much as someone can like them, I guess! I agree with the last one COMPLETELY!

Hmm.. I'm like your car. I also hate cold weather and would rather not cooperate when it's freezing outside! (Which it currently is. I guess that's my rant this week!)

I delete chain emails too. Why some of my friends send them on to "at least of your closest friends" I haven't a clue.

Hate chain emails! Especially when they say something bad is gonna happen to me if I don't forward to 8,000 people...they creep me out!

So excited for 2010!!! I needed a fresh start!!!

Happy New Year!!

I like beginnings, the beginning of everything except an illness!

Chain emails I delete.

Hope this year is a great one for you!!!
XOXO,
Erin
And P.S. I hope your car starts being finnicky too!

I hate Cablevision too LMB, which provider are you looking into. It's all greed. Raising rates last month was bad enough, but taking away two of my fave stations is egregious!

There are still people out there who send chain email? They need to be institutionalized.

Hmm, rants . . . apart from everything I've ranted about this week on my blog, I've had a major issue with a supermarket this week who have screwed up my home delivery on three separate occasions and have now cancelled the delivery altogether. I've wasted the past three days sitting in waiting for them. So frustrating!

Yes a new year is good with me too. has to be better than last year.

Chain texts now.. wtf

You could always threaten your car that you are gong to send it out here. Snow, wind out of the north at up to 45mph, and wind chill of -30 and below. Tell it to straighten up or you *are* going to ship it inland.

if you dont forward this comment to 100 other blogs...lol.

have fun in NYC...have not been back in forever.

yay! 2009 is done...i dont want to talk about it again. smiles.

My car dislikes the cold weather, too. So does it's operator.

Rave: Beaker - the next new breakout musical star! Props also go to his sidekick Bono Monkey

Rave: Having a laptop. Love the portability.

Rave: The promise and hope of a new year - always exciting!

Rant: Ditto on the Cablevision cluster you know what...this may finally be the push for me to move to FiOS

Rant: After being on conference calls all day, I got home at 7:15 to only have to participate on a conference call (which I'm still on) for one of my golf leagues.

Rant: When oh when we will have slighter warmer temps?????

DB said...

By the way, LMB, I will of course want to speak French after being in the presence of Eric Ripertttttttttt :). You have been warned.

my old car would never start if the temperature dipped below 35. not so bad while i was in MD, but a MAJOR problem while living in NH.

trying flooring the gas as you turn the key. that always worked for me. it's probably not great for the car, but it still got the thing started.

I'm so jealous about the Top Chef thingy (yes, that IS the best and only word I could come up with right now).

Oh goodness, chain emails are the worst. The ones I hate the most are of the fear-monging "z0mg gang members follow women in parking structures and give them teeny tiny paper cuts and then later their heads fall off and a bunch of scabies crawl out! true story! never walk alone at night, ladies!" ilk. Like, come on, dudes. The only correct response is to forward the sending a thorough debunking from breakthechain.org or Snopes.

Oh, you know that I love you! I wish I could buy you a new car!
Love ya and hugs!

You know as bad as chain emails are, chain texts are so much worse. But I usually forward them because I don't want my head to explode, or to have bad luck for years, or no sex life.

Melanie’s Randomness – I used to feel the same way until I started getting you’re a wonderful friend and to show me how much you care, send it back to me and 10 other people and something wonderful will happen. I don’t need a chain letter to tell my friends they’re great and in fact, I think it less personal than to just tell them or send a note.

New England Girl – Text chain letters? NOOOOOOOO….That would drive me nuts.

La La La Leah – I’m looking into it. I have a Passat too!

Ice Queen – Your comments crack me up. I have the same nightmares about Cablevision and no matter how cute cablevision guy is, he’s not going to help me.

Working Mommy – my rants are never too serious, but aren’t chain letters annoying.

Heather – Wait. Don’t you live in warmer climate? What do you consider cold?

TechnoBabe – I used to send them back to the sender equal to the # of people I was supposed to send them to.

Life, Love & Lola – I’ve yet to hear one of those email chain letters actually working. 2010 is going to be a great year!

Secretia – LOL. I totally agree.

Living & Loving in LA – It will be and it warmed up enough yesterday and my car started – Yay for me!

Maria.palermo – AT&T – I have them for landline service. Going to combine.

Captain Dumbass – How do you escape them? Ya know what, I don’t really know many men who get sent them…so not fair.

P – Nice of the supermarket to dictate your social life by forcing you to stay in 3 nights. Did they at least give you a gift certificate or discount for the inconvenience?

Vodka Logic – I didn’t know about chain texts either and I hope I never receive one.

Dan – I like that. It finally started and I’m going to tell the car this so it knows what is in store for it if it ever does this again.

Brian Miller – OMG – imagine bloggers doing some sort of “chain” thing – ugh….It’s been awhile since I’ve been in NYC and am looking forward to it.

Otin – Said from the man who probably has to shovel a driveway in 20 years.

Ink Obsession Designs – The cards are great! I can’t wait to use them.

Badass Geek – LOL. I feel the same way.

DB – I think you should ask Eric a question in French or tell him the sofa is comfy.

Jaime – Luckily, it warmed up and turned over.

Herding Cats – LOL. I can’t wait.

Kat – Those emails are creepy and Snopes is a resource I’m always checking out. Besides, do you really need to get an email telling you not to walk alone at night? Just rent any slasher film and you won’t need an email.

Tracey – LOL. Thanks. It started which is a big relief.

Jules – I think IMAHO is just jealous of Beaker’s hair…..

Spot - I haven't gotten a chain text so I have no worries about losing my head or sex life.

I tempt fate every day by deleting chain e-mails that my former roomie always forwards to me. Since she has never become rich or famous or whatever I'm wondering why she still believes they work.
