Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, January 27, 2010...

Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. Without further adieu, here are my Rants and Raves from the past week:

Rave: People listened to Beaker and voted again for me in Jules' Out-of-Tune competition. I won't know till later today if I made it to week 5, but want to thank you for taking the time to vote.

Rant: Job searching is incredibly frustrating. At times, I am accepting and patient, but right now I'm not. I guess it's part of the cycle.

Rave: I'm excited because I found a great free resource online to assist me in keeping my mind intact while looking - free online university courses.

Rave: Finding a really good book you can sink your teeth in. I'm reading Cleaving by Julie Powell. Although I find it disturbingly exquisite, I wouldn't recommend this book to people I know. Personally, she's not a someone I have sympathy for. Combine this fact, with the subject of butchering animals, the book is a tough read for most. However, she is raw, honest and is a wonderful writer.

Rave: I totally forgot until Living and Loving in LA reminded me in the comment section how I won 18 Rabbits through a giveaway she had. I'm even more excited because she put them in the mail and I can't wait to try. [FYI - 18 Rabbits does not mean I'm getting 18 new animals, it means I'm trying out a protein bar which is supposedly fabulous].

That's it for me. I would love to read any Rants and Raves you want to share? Just click on the linky thing for anyone that wants to participate in Rant and Rave Wednesday -- or leave them in the comments section here. Please be respectful and do not use the linky thing if you are just promoting your blog (yes, this is another Rant of mine).

Thanks for sharing the online classes, I will check it out!

Rave: AT&T telephone sent me a postcard saying they made an accounting error in taxes and will be crediting my account (along with many others) for the difference

Rant: AT&T Uverse (TV) sent me a postcard a couple days later saying my bill will be increasing due to business expenses.

Oooh, good to hear that you recommend Cleaving. I really enjoyed Julie and Julia, and have been meaning to pick up a copy.

I'm ranting against people who don't let you use their blog to promote their blog!!!!!

JK.. that's annoying, isn't it?

Free online university?? I like anything that's free. I'm definitely looking to update my skills on things for my resume. Searching for a new job is hard. I'm doing it too & its really intimidating.

I read Julie & Julia & enjoyed it, but if her next book is about butchering animals I'm not sure if I'd like it.

My rant. I wish I had a job that doesn't treat me like a child. It sucks.

Beaker was hilarious, I hope you win!

Keep plugging away on the job search. There are so many more people looking for work not aren't there? I wish you the best in your search.

The job search is frustrating beyond belief! I hear that one!

I almost bought Cleaving yesterday, but something about Julie Powell turns me off.

Job hunting is gut wrenching and soul shattering. Keep believing in yourself.

I have to agree about the free university courses. My goal when I retire is to go back to school full time - there are so many fields I haven't had time to study yet,

girl, inspired - yay on the $$$ back, but I guess you'll be applying it to the tv rate increase.

very married - it's not fun. Wait, aren't you in law school?

That Kind of Girl - I think I emailed you, but don't hate me if you don't like. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

Jack Shit - Yeah, I suck don't I?

Spot - You'll have to let me know what you decide to take.

PHST - She is. As I mentioned in my email, she is definitely not likeable.

Melanie - There is a lot about butchering and her complete fascination. I'm part way through the bike so I can't tell if the entire book is.

Heather- Thank you.

TechnoBabe – Yes a ton of people looking. Employers can definitely be ultra choosey.

Jen – It sucks. Now, if I won lottery, things would be perfect.

Herding Cats – Could it be how narcissistic she is? She really comes across that way in her books.

Dan – Job hunting really does make you take a hard long look at yourself (for me it does) and it is a bit daunting.
I really love learning new things and I believe my brain is turning into mush. I think it’s obvious by Beaker’s last performance.

Iasa – LOL. I’m trying to set up a schedule where I tackle everything as though it is part of my full-time job (this includes home/school/blog and search) during the hours I’d be in an office.

Working Mommy – It is. Even more when you interview and pull the job due to budgets (this is after 4 months of interviewing).

great randrs today. I'm trying to get my act together to do a post, but I'm so far behind in my reading that I thought I'd catch up with that first. I will come and link if I get it written!
oh and LOL to jack shit!

Thanks for the clarification on the 18 rabbits. Definitely had a question mark in my mind.

Rant: Going to jury duty and spending the day.... waiting... with a bunch of strangers.

Rave: SAINTS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL! 'nuff said...

I totally know what you mean about the book thing, having been a bookworm since I was just a wee one. LOVE finding a book I just don't want to leave alone!

Rave: Learned boss is taking a week off in about 3 weeks or so.

Rave: Free ice cream for dessert tonight due to coupon from Houlihan's.

Rant: Ate a bit too much at dinner.

Rave: Off on Friday. Have to stay at the townhouse while FiOS being installed. Oddly excited about just hanging out all day.

Rave: More Beaker!!!!

I did a thing this morning that I called Yeah...Boo. It's basically the same premise.

I totally forgot about your Rant and Rave! I did not mean to copy! Let me know if you want me to link it up.

rxBambi – I hear you and am so far behind too!

Living and Loving LA – Thank you, thank you, thank you --- I redid my post to tell about the win. I can’t wait.

Aleta – I hate jury duty, but know many people who get jealous when I’m called every year. I want the Saints because they deserve it.

P – Isn’t it the truth? I read books till the end and hate when I say, “oh, that’s just alright”.

DB – Is the FiOS guy bringing his mom with him just like the commercials?

Tracie – LOL. It’s fine. My complaint is when people link to the Mr. Linky and you go to their blog and there is something completely unrelated.

Me too about the job searching thing. But am teaching self Maya and brushing up on Photoshop skills (through Lynda.com) so hope these skills will make me more marketable. Must also update online portfolio.
