Sister Act

Friday, April 15, 2011......

For people who have been reading my blog for awhile, know I participated in my first triathlon last September with my two sisters. We participated as a team and my part was the 5k run.

I knew I was going to walk it, set a goal, and hit my goal. Although I was happy, I knew that my sisters really pulled their weight and had killer times in the swim and bike portion of the event.

My oldest sister, Science Girl, is the one with the competitive sports bug. She participates in century rides (100 mile bike rides), marathons (26.2 mile runs) and sprint triathlons. It is a passion of hers and like other siblings in my family, has a competitive streak -- always striving to do better.

I know this year I plan on running my portion of the triathlon. Walking will not suffice this year. I also know I need to set a decent goal for self for fear of being kicked off the Sister Act team (which I don't want to happen). So for the fear of getting kicked team Sister Act, I am now trying to go to the gym at 5:50 a.m. during the week and have been slightly successful, but plan on kicking it up a notch.

I have about 4 and 1/2 months until this race. I wonder, will I become a morning person by the time the event rolls around with the a.m. training schedule? Hmmmmm.....probably not unless miracles happen.

Good for you! I'll sit back in my comfy chair and cheer you on. :)

Hey you could do the gym thing at 5am THEN go back to bed. :) That'd work!

I used to do triathlons about ten years ago. I can't believe it's been ten years. Where the hell has the time gone? I also can't believe I used to get up so g.d. early to train. Good for you!

I can't even imagine getting up so early. Let alone working out!
Good for you!! You should be very proud of yourself!

I know how much this means to you! You will do great at it. As to the getting up at 5 a.m. to go to the gym, I'm heading there starting next Tuesday. I'll be there with you, albeit 60 or so miles away!

Brian - well, this would be one miracle if I became a morning person!

Veg Ass - I'd like to do that, but have a feeling I'd be up for the day. Although, I am hoping I'd fall asleep quickly and cure my insomnia.

Mandy's Kidding - I hate to think back on what I used to do 10 years ago compared to what I do today. I want to know who stole all my energy!

gayle - LOL. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it too.

donnamarie - that's great! I know you said you were going to go back soon. Glad it's happening.

Science Girl may just run you over with her bike if you're not careful....LOL

DB - Believe me, I've had that thought or that I'll be pushed into the ocean.

Probably not. I have to get up early on occasion but when I don't, I sleep til 11 no matter how early I go to bed. It's annoying.

If I ever do a triathlon, I'm getting the swimming portion over with first. That way I'll drown before I have to run or bike.

I believe in miracles. You can do it. Just think how great you're going to feel in a few short weeks.
