Match.com and eHarmony, Here I Come.....

Tuesday, March 30, 2010....

Do you think if I join these dating sites I can find a suitable match for the Northern Mockingbird living in my backyard?

He's lonely.

Because he's lonely, he chirps...ALL NIGHT LONG.

According to the articles I've found on the Internet, he chirps because he's looking for a mate and will continue until he has one.

My husband doesn't hear a thing. How could he? Between his Ambien and snoring, he wouldn't be able to hear a thing.

Why do I get the only bird that can't find a mate? I mean, he's not shy because he hasn't an issue chirping letting all the female Mockingbirds know he's available.

I have a feeling these dating sites couldn't help him even if they allowed birds. What female wants to date a whiny noisy male who is never able to shut up?

Ugh...

My only hope is a deaf bird who flies into him by mistake because I also learned Mockingbirds mate for life.

I imagine marrying that poor little boy bird would be like being married to Sarah Palin.

I wonder if birds get annoyed by other birds with the excessive chirping?? Maybe that's why he's banished to your yard?

That is an awesome comment Vegetable Assassin!

Have you ever yelled, "SHUUUUUUUT UPPPPPPP!" out your window at wildlife? I have.

Except in my case it was chipmunks.

Really? All night? That's awful. It's also illegal to shoot mockingbirds...just so you know.

Coyote yipping woke me the other night. I swear to gosh they were right by the house.

I think you are right, he is a lonely bird. If he keeps chirping and singing he doesn't feel so alone.

The young man next door has been chirping over the fence when I'm sinbathing, make that sunbathing.

Just this morning....and I quote, "I spent a lotta money on e.harmony and now I'm all messed up in this custody crap. I'm telling you, I'm just the girlfriend and I don't think these 2 ever agree on anything. Now it's 2 years later and I can't get a refund."

hahahaha...as I saw your blog title and thought "WHAT?!?!?"

Hmmm...interesting concept. I've also wondered if there was an easy way to catch such a bird and "relocate" him/her.

At least it's warm enough for the birds to be chirping, right? What's the weather like where you live? It's a gorgeous day here.

Hahaha! There's a perfect match out there for everyone... even the bird. It's springtime, he's lonely. Wait until the 70 degrees hits on Thursday.
My parents had a weird bird here the other springtime...a red cardinal who would sit at the window and watch my mom all the time. It was CRAZY. Then he would get nuts and fly against the windows, bang into them, when she would go to the window he would just stare at her.
This went on for the first month of spring. Then he moved to a tree. Whenever I was in the back bedroom he would be in the tree looking in.

Some religions believe birds are past ancestors reincarnated... Some believe they carry messages. You know my good encounter with a bird on the 18th floor. :)
Okay.. I am getting carried away with bird talk now. Sorry.

Esm's comment was really something!!!

Call your local pet store. Maybe they sell mockingbirds. Or mock-ups of mockingbirds.

This just reminded me of that stupid movie Failure to Launch. Zooey Deschanel's character has a mockingbird outside her window and she wants to kill it, and yadda yadda, she wants to buy a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird because she thinks it's a how-to.
