Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, September 16, 2009....

Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. Without further adieu, here are my Rants and Raves from the past week:

Rave: Hello? It's National LMB's Birthday Week. So far, called a gf last minute and had lunch with her yesterday outside by the Saugatuck River. I've known her forever and we never run out of things to talk about. AND....Ben & Jerry's sent me a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream because it is my birthday this month.

Rant: Why is it that people can't read or obey the traffic sign 'right or left lane closed ahead'. Two times this past week I've watched idiots think they are better than others and zip ahead to the last possible moment and cut off drivers. Freakin idgits.

Rave: Survived first week of WW with a 4.6 lb weight loss. I'm so excited that a food shelter is being helped because of my efforts.

Rave: Had Spidey Man over for dinner the other night. He cracks me up. He brought me brownies that his electrician brought him as a thank you marketing gift. Is it me, or are brownies a strange marketing gift?

Rant: My bad blogging behavior. Ca-Joh was generous enough to include me in a Tuesday Tribute post in which several bloggers were asked 2 simple questions. He sent us the email with the questions last week and I read the first question as if I were on the game show Jeopardy (a fantasy of mine to be on it and win or at least know a majority of the answers before they've moved on to the next question). I read the question "Why do you follow my blog" as "Why do I blog" (Jeopardy speed reading at my best). After I read his entry I emailed him and he politely changed my answer to reflect the question. Thank you Ca-Joh.

Rave: Finding my voice with my neighbor. My neighbor has 3 dogs. She's never home and leaves her living room window open and one dog positions himself with his face in the window to BARK. He's a doberman and his bark is loud and deep. I know dogs bark, but her dog barks for long clips of time (we're talking minimum of 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours). It's ANNOYING. The other night, I had it (this has been going on for the past 6 to 8 months). I called and left a message (she wasn't home) asking if the dog was ill or maybe he was just really lonely, but I was tired of hearing him bark for 1/2 hour to 1 hour clips. Yesterday, got up, went out and noticed the living room is now closed. Guess what. No barking at all hours of the day and night (and I mean ALL hours).

That's it for me. Any Rants and Raves you want to share? I would love to hear them. Matty's Thoughts, rxBambi and Green Eyed Momster have posted their own R&R Wednesday. Check them out.

Love the list and National Birthday Week? Amen. Have a great one!

I always thought that the worst drivers are from my country. They behave like they're the king of the road.

I love Ben&Jerry's... their choco chip mint is something to rave about.

Rant for the day: my internet connection was cut-off for 4hours due to network problems. I was so pissed.

Rave for the day: I was able to finish a lot of work (photo editing etc.) while the internet was done.

Leah said...

sorry about the that... I meant while the internet was down.

I'm so bad with the keyboards.

Heckety said...

Well hippy hoppy happy b-bithdy to you! And about he brownies? Wouldn't mind what sort of gift it was as long as they were within my reach!!

Congrats on the loss!!!!

Brownies from an electrician, huh? I must use the wrong contractors because I never get baked goods, just a bill. ;)

Uuuuuurrrrggghhh I *hate* when people speed up to try to avoid the line for a lane closure. Makes me wish I could telepathically tell all the people ahead of me to NOT let them in so they have to wait their turn like the rest of us.

Have a great week!

I leased a car many years ago and the finance company sent me a tin of chocolate chip cookies. Strange, but good.

Rant: I don't get coupons for free scoops of Ben & jerrys on my birthday! How do I get on the list?
If I have to actually go to their ice cream parlor, that won't be convient. There are none close to me. Can't they mail me a pint of ice cream on my birthday?

JennyMac – Thanks and I definitely will!

Leah – Chocolate Chip Mint is my absolutely fav flavor

Heckety – Bday is next Tuesday and the brownies was an odd, but good gift.

Actual Scale – Thanks! Very Happy. I wish I had that power with drivers as well.

SunshineMeg – I’m sorry you missed it and maybe you should play the game Sorry since you missed it by one day.

LaLa – Next Tuesday, but I’ll take the early wishes. I saw the list and I’m glad you balance it off on Thursdays. A life should have both Rants and Raves (always with more raves).

Stereos – Strange, but a pleasant surprise.

Goose – You can one by signing up at Ben & Jerry’s – however, you have to go to the shop to get the cone.

I love rant and rave Wednesday. Happy Birthday this week, congrats on the weight loss, and brownies are a weird gift.

Have a happy day.

Drivers drive me nuts! You know the lane ends really zooming up to the end is going to gain you 5 spots! UH

You go girl that is a GREAT first week at WW! Keep up the good job.

Brownies ... hmmm guess everyone is cutting back with budgets ... LOL

Ben & Jerry's has it right...it should be a birthday month not a birthday week.

Cudos on the dog thing. In my last apartment the guy underneath me had a dog that would bark for 3 hours straight when he was gone. I talked to my landlord and him repeatedly and nothing would come of it. I even called the police and the SPCA and was told there was nothing that could be done. I used to go stark raving mad. I will never ever rent again. And if I have the same issue with my new neighbors I'll kidnap their dog and take it to a shelter several hours away.

yum with Ben and Jerry! always love those birthday goodies various places send out

seems like some good raves this week; glad the neighbor was cooperative with the dog; I bet she didn't realize that perhaps the dog barked that much?? but glad she was willing to work with you

How exciting. Keep it up. And, means I have to get off this computer and head to the Y. Swam a mile yesterday. Can't lift my arms today. Will take me a while get down the lane today.

Happy Birthday LMB.....all the best to you for a wonderful birthday and YES, receiving brownies as a marketing gift is a bit strange.....

Little Ms Blogger said...

Stephanie – Weird yes, but sometimes weird is good.

Alexis – Thanks and I think if they gave him M&Ms I’d be afraid how his house was rewired.

OP – OMG – I would have lost my mind and let the dog out.

a Corgi – I wrote a WHOLE post about my neighbors and how inconsiderate they are. She knows, she just had to wait until someone complained.

Midlife – Thanks. Typing must be very painful…

Congrats on the weight loss! Now you can eat extra ice cream and brownies! Yummm!

Is there anything worse than a dog barking non-stop? I don't think so! It's one of my biggest peeves! Glad that the windows are closed. I hope the barking has stopped for good!

Happy Birthday Week!

Hugs!!

Happy Birthday. Go celebrate.

And those "other" drivers. Grrrrrr.

Congratulations on the weight loss.

Rave: Got free ticket to see Harry Connick Jr in concert - since LMB will be away, she won't be coming with me. Sniff.

Rave: Kitchen redo looks like it will be done end of month or sooner.

Rave: LMB weight loss. Yay for you!

Rant: Two year project at work shows no signs of completion. Argh.

Yah, I have a rave, I lost 20 pounds in 10 weeks...ok...that's getting old.
I like your "Sorry" comment to Sunshine Meg. clever.
Congrats on your weight loss.
I have a rant, "I hate not being able to think of any rants and raves!"

Yaay I love birthdays! And losing weigh!Uh,yea I 'll say no more of that!
Have a great birthday week!

Good job on the weight loss!

On the topic of brownies - not so strange a gift. After all, you can control size to control cost of gift. Given how many businesses and government agencies have $$ limits on gifts that are too low for fruit baskets or other such things, brownies are coming into vogue.

Congrats on the weight loss!

I'd love brownies! Even if they are kind of strange for a marketing gift...

Hi www.greedygirlsguide.com checking in from SITS

LOL at the national b-day week. I really think it's a virgo thing to believe your b-day is a national holiday. I had a friend 2 weeks ago try to convince all they should take off for her day.

Congrats on your weightloss

MP – My birthday isn’t till the 22nd. I just like celebrating for 7 days.

Peach Tart – Thanks

Living & Loving - Thanks. I’m happy.

Lacochran – Thanks, I’m very happy.

Otin – 24 – correct.

Girl inspired – Thanks, it’s not till the 22nd. I will let you know how it goes and I voted for you.

Helen – You must be feeling pretty covered in paint…Thanks, love your blog too!

Green –Eyed – I wish. We can still hear the dog, but not like before. He can’t stand at the window and bark so the barking has gone from 97% of my waking day to 1%. I’m THRILLED.

Joanna – I will after I work on the other neighbors with the illegal kennel, rooster and goose (who has a goose in the suburbs?)

McGillicutty – Thanks.

Matty – I plan on celebrating all week. Loved your Raves – the ant thing would be hard for me.

DB – Sniff, sniff. I want to go. He lives nearby, do you think he’ll do a private concert to accommodate my schedule? Sorry about the Project.

Sunshine – Your news is not old at all – it’s INSPIRING….

Miss Nobody – Thanks. I plan on enjoying the week.

Dan – That’s right – I remember from negotiating, vendors couldn’t accept gifts over $25 – what the heck can you get for $25?

Jules – I’m not a chocolate fan, but still love the brownie….How could you not?

GreedyGirl – I will definitely stop by. I’m a Virgo and Libra and a YOUNGEST which makes it all about me doesn’t it? I do think you should have taken off the day.

Relentless barking dogs make me want to pull my hair out.

I'm glad you were able to get a break from your neighbors dog.

There should be large holes dug in the ground for those people who like to cut ahead. The holes should be covererd by a big piece of road coloured clothe, Bugs Bunny style. Feel special now, bastard?!

Happy Birthday again! I know that you celebrate all week! :)

OMG I have a a crying dog post coming up with audio attached -

Hey there,I have an award for you on my blog :)

i must agree on the brownies, strange. as for your neighbor dogs i think the owner should be locked inside with just a window cracked each and every day for many hours. have a great weekend! rave.

You should use that Mr linky thing!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK!!!!

and i hate drivers that cut ppl off last min. so annoying.

Happy birthday!!!

I so relate to this list. Rude drivers, helping others, losing weight, great dinner guests, and speaking to others who've been inconsiderate of out feelings and feeling like they heard you. At least with the rude drivers, you know it's nothing personal, so your b-day week sounds pretty fabulous to me!

Candice – Barking dogs make me want to let them loose and leave my neighborhood.

Captain Dumbass – LOL. I love this suggestion.

Otin – Thanks and unlike you, who believes their life is practically over, I plan to continue.

Midtown Girl – Please don’t get me wrong…a barking dog is okay, but after a ½ hour, I LITERALLY LOSE MY MIND.

Miss Nobody – Why, thank you….Very sweet of you to think of me.

Life is Good – Ahhh…my neighbor, I won’t reveal more about her, but TRUST ME, she’s an extensive expert on dogs, training, showing, judging dog shows and something else….I really don’t think she had a clue. The window has been closed for the past week (btw, she has central AC so the dogs would not suffer if she turned it on).

Otin – I’m going to try the Mr. Linky thing, but not this week because there is no Rant and Rave this week.

Constructive Attitude – Thanks. Dumbass had a great solution to those drivers.

Cheryl – It is pretty fabulous, but sadly coming to an end tomorrow.

Jane – Thanks!

Laura – I’m glad you like it. Will check out yours as well.
