Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, September 30, 2009....

Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. Without further adieu, here are my Rants and Raves from the past week:

Rave: Spent a couple of days in Rhode Island with hubby for our birthdays. The weather, food and company was great. It was a nice break to get away and clear my head.

Rant: Stupid Rude Guy. He exists and was at the gas station yesterday. He insisted I move my car so he could get my space. Initially, I thought he just wanted me to move up so he could go around me and exit the station. But, noooooo. He just wanted my space. I purposely parked where I did because I had to go in the gas mart and buy ice after filling up. Stupid Rude Guy gets this title because there are 18 pumps at this station and we were the only 2 there.

Rave/Rant: Knew I had a bad week food wise, but still went to weigh-in. In the past, I would have not gone because I wouldn't want to see the bad news. My hubby convinced me to go and he was right. I gained, but not to the extent I imagined. For everything I ate last week, I thought it was going to be 5 to 7 pounds heavier and was surprised to see only a 1.2 weight gain.

Rave: Got to spend an evening with a dear friend last Friday night. It's not often we are able to get together as she is a single mom, but it was great to just catch up and see one another.

Rave: I was bestowed three more awards last week and want to thank Miss Nobody Scribbles who has recently returned from an extended blogging break and given me the Heartfelt Award:

AND...

Leah at Life Letters gave me the Super Comment Award. Until recently, I was an excellent blogger, but have been a bit of a slacker in the blogging world. I swear I will be coming back...

AND....

The Honest Scrap Award from Sunshine Mama who is all aspiring with her goals and obtaining them. I know I had a hiccup last week, but have already made the necessary changes to be as a successful as her.

I will be properly paying these forward in separate posts....thinking Blogger Award Sundays where I get to wear what I want and no one will be interrupted when accepting the awards.

Seriously, I feel honored that I have been the recipient of several awards over the past few weeks. I'm just happy you enjoy my little space because I do enjoy visiting you.

That's it for me. Good week with the Raves outweigh the Rants. Any Rants and Raves you want to share? I would love to hear them.

Oh wait, one more Rave or Rant? Not sure yet. Otin thought my life would be easier if I put up a linky thing. This way, I won't miss a person that wishes to post their own R&R Wednesday. I just hope it works.

Love it! And more raves than rants! Glad you guys had a great time in RI. What a great place to go to celebrate your b-days.
Happy belated birthday to you! I am finally back catching up on my blog and your's. And don't worry-- that tiny increase on the scale is just water weight! :)

Congratulations on all your awards, especially that honest scrap one. :)
Glad you weighed in too. Just keep at it, you'll figure this out.

Glad you got to have a nice time meeting with your hubby and friends. Good relationships like that create good memories.

Erase that Otin one on the mr linky if you want, I messed up! The Jersey boy one is my other blog!

I hate that rude guy thing! I always encounter crap like that, where there is hardly any one at a place and they all want to park in the same spot!

1.2 lbs is nothing! Don't give up!!

I think a Stupid Rude Guy exists in every one in ten people.

Congratulations on the awards and on the small weight gain (when you were expecting it to be worse).

Our town is full Stupid Rude Guys. I've almost become immune to them. Congrats on all the blog bling.

Rave: Curling Open House is this Saturday! Unless my plumbing repair takes all day I am planning on going so that I can give LMB color commentary during the upcoming Winter Olympics.

I had a bad week so you can skip reading my post this week.

I copied your cupcake picture to add to future R & R Wednesdays if you don't mind. If you do, just let me know and I won't use it!

Congrats on the awards and the very minor weight gain!

Hugs!!

I'm a new follower and addition to the rants and rave thing. I decided to give it a try after reading Green Eyed Momster's so many times. Hope I did it right. I enjoyed yours very much so and look forward to reading more :) Have a great day/week!

Stupid rude guy is a moron; lets give him an award! ;O) Glad you had a lovely break.

Remember to think of me with your tasty, low fat meals...after my fish and chips tonight, I'll be needing them even more than ever....

It's always nice to get away, wherever it may be and for whatever reason.

And don't ya just love those people who just must have YOUR space? When I'm about to pull out from a space in a parking lot with a go-zillion empty spaces, along comes another driver who has to sit there and wait for MY SPOT, even though there are empties all around me. I don't get it.

It has to be encouraging to eat like crazy and not gain too much.

I enjoy catching up with someone I haven't seen in a while too.

Congratulations on the awards.

I bet Rhode Island is fantastically beautiful this time of year!

I always give myself license to eat whatever I want to celebrate my birthday - with about 1 lb gain, you did amazing!

Congrats on the awards.

Travel and diets seem to be anathema to each other. At least airlines no loner serve meals. {*grin*}

TudorCity Girl – Thanks and am glad to hear things went with doctor.

Sunshine Mama – Thank you. You’re right about keeping at it. In the past, I may have quit, but I did say I wanted to enjoy the ‘process’ of things. I’ve already begun to turn things around and get back in the game.

The Actor’s Diet - Thanks.

A corgi – Thank you. I’m glad about the weight gain being lower than expected and it was just enough to motivate me to get back into it.

Otin – I wonder if rude people like I described were a dog in their last life and have to mark their territory?

JennyMac – RI was awesome and after tourist season – it was like having an entire beach to yourself with the greatest breezes….

Badass Geek – This makes me sad. I was hoping he was the only one I’d ever have to encounter. A girl can wish….

The Peach Tart – Thanks.

La La – Thanks and I did have a great time last week.

Frogs in my Formula – I’m sorry to hear that.

DB – You have to ACTUALLY play, not just watch and I totally forgot about the open house.

Green-Eyed Momster - You can copy the picture, I like it (although, when the cupcake is enlarged, makes me a bit hungry).

Beckie – Thanks for follower and I’m glad you’re joining in.

Helen – Hmmm….an award, picturing a giant penis head as the award photo….although, he would probably think I was complimenting him.

Matty – I swear, the SPOT waiters must have been dogs in their past life and need to mark their territory – that’s my only explanation for it.

Noelle – It was. Well, I would give permission to self as well, if I didn’t celebrate for 8 days – I’d say I was going to curb that back next year, but really loved Birthday Celebration Week.

Hiro – Thanks for stopping by and I’m glad you like my little blog. I will go visit yours.

Joanna – Thanks. Week is going better now that my fierce headache and backache have subsided (happened after posting yesterday). Btw, planning on doing the 5 words Friday.

Dan – Thanks. You’re right. Although, I would be happier with airlines if you could find a stupid place within airport that sells a sandwich to bring aboard.

Gah... 1.2lbs after a great week, I'd be celebrating that as a loss. When I went to blog camp I think I gained about 4lbs and we really didn't over indulge!!! and we climbed mountains... in the car but we climbed mountains!!!! Keep on keepin' on!!!!!

p.s. beef olives are thin slices of good beef stuffed with (traditionally) sausage meat or stuffing of choice, browned and braised in stock.

Tuna mayo is tuna mayonnaise so tinned or fresh tuna, shredded and mixed with mayo, a squeeze of lemon juice, white pepper and a pinch of salt. It is a standard sandwich or baked potato filling over here. :O)

I've often thought about using a Mr. Linky, but then it wouldn't show the TMI titles... and that's half the fun!

Stupid Rude Guy sounds like a real JACKASS!

1.5 lbs...that was probably just water weight...So i bet you actually lost!

Congrats on your awards!!

Little Ms Blogger said...

McGillicutty – I loved you comment about climbing mountains…in a car….That just cracked me up.

Helen – Beef olives sound very interesting. I might play around with that.

LiLu – I bet you’ve thought about playing with Mr. Linky

Life, Love & Lola – He was, but at least he’s not a part of my daily life. I’m being very good this week (translation, I’m actually noticing what’s going in) and know it’ll come off at next weigh-in or some poor WW volunteer might have to run as I try to clobber her with the scale.

Bravo for going to weigh in even on a bad week. Facing a gain is tough, but I bet it was a relief to have an exact number versus an imagined one.
You'll get it gone again in no time. :)

Hang in there & have a great weekend!
Lynn

Actual Scale - you're right. The imagined # was far worse than the real one.
