A Work in Progress

Tuesday, September 8, 2009.....

Yesterday, I mentioned how I'm struggling with the process of anything because of my fear of the outcome. I want to thank everyone who commented. Some left some great mantras and reading material which I plan on using and checking out.

In the meantime, I got a piece of Weight Watchers literature, asking me to come back by enticing me with reduced fees. Typically, I'd junk these offers (I'd love to say it's because I don't need them) but kept this one. Besides the reduction in fees, Weight Watchers is promoting its More to Lose Campaign. For every pound you lose they donate one dollar to a food shelter.

I admit, the campaign hooked me back in. Yes I really do need to lose weight, but if I can help others by shedding the fat, well, yay!

I signed up for 8 weeks (November 7th) and I may sign up for more, but for now, this is what I can wrap my brain around. For the next 8 weeks, I will attend meetings, plan menus, track points, drink water and exercise.

I will focus on the process and not let the outcome paralyze my ability to do it. This will be the first time I don't set a goal for myself and am curious/looking forward to what I experience during the process.

There is no way I'm telling you my starting weight, but I'll let you know my progress along the way.

Way to go for making the commitment! I've always heard WW is the best/most consistent way to lose weight.

Making the commitment and action is the first step to transformation. My positive thoughts are with you and your success.

I like WW approach; I wonder if our local WW is doing the same thing; I'll have to look into it; sounds like something I could stick to, too, if I knew my pounds lost were helping others. good luck with it!! I'm sure you'll have great success :)

Oh my goodness, I think your post is exactly what I needed to pull me out of this funk! And I mean funk!

I have been on WW previously and lost weight. This morning I got on the scale and realized I have gain 17 pounds in the last six months! O.M.G!

I think I'm going to pull up WW's Web site and get back on track.

Thanks for the motivation and kick in the rear!

That's weird. I left a comment on someone else's blog today that I was going to start a theme blog.
I'm going to take photos of myself in my underwear, then go on a diet, post about how horrible it is everyday and take a new photo every month.
You can do it too now.

;)

I think this will be a great thing for you. Sometimes we need a little extra support to help get us started. Getting started is the hard part I always think. So, good for you for taking the leap. You can do it.

Good luck! I have periods of time where I go off my diet, but unlike times in the past, I don't give up just because I slip! I am pulling for you, after all, we are almost exactly the same age! :)
