Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, August 18, 2009...

Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. Without further adieu, here are my Rants and Raves from the past week:

Rant: I finally heard back from the company I interviewed with in early July - no go. To add insult to injury, the cute bunny in my yard, ate one of my brussel sprout plants - MY FAVORITE VEGGIE. I'm becoming like hubby and am officially on a mission. Next time bunny comes to snack, he/she'll be in for surprise - cayenne pepper! (fyi - it is much easier for me to focus on bunny issue than disappointment from job).

Rave: I love that my hubby is a great caretaker. Last night, no exception. As we were watching t.v., a Raisin Maid commercial came on. Has anyone seen how creepy she is? She is the BK's King female counterpart. To lighten the mood, hubby made the quick observation that he's surprised that no one has taken these creepy spokespersons and made them the stars of a porn movie....Okay, it was much funnier in the moment.

Rave: In cooking, I love to experiment with new foods and recipes. However, I've never really branched into creating my own recipe and came up with a great one for zucchini (which I have a ton of at the moment). It was yumbo and hubby liked it too. I can't explain it, but getting the right flavor profile is a real high for me.

Rave: Great weekend catching up with friends and sleep (yeah, I know, unemployed, but it doesn't mean I am a good sleeper).

That's it for me. Any Rants and Raves you want to share? I would love to hear them. Green Eyed Momster, and Mrs 4444 has posted her own R&R Wednesday. Check it out.

I'm curious about how you prepare your brussle sprouts! As children, we are taught to despise them (which pretty much scars us for life), but I would love to start eating them again.

I have decided that I don't love vegetables.. =( I don't like that earthy dirt taste... Maybe someday I should because I have children. But I don't eat them and I am ok. mostly

I am glad you have more Raves then Rants this time. You are pretty awesome. Good Luck with the job hunt.

Raisen Maid porn? Another thing I would hate to see on tv. LOL. This made me laugh.

sorry about the job; can never figure out why they wait that long to tell someone though, geesh

hoping the cayenne pepper works with the bunny; we have tons in our neighborhood (bunnies not pepper) but we didn't grow a garden this year

Sorry about the no go on the old job front. You should probably stay home and guard your brussle sprouts for now. Something will come along. I've been looking for full time work for over a year now. I keep telling myself that something will come along.....(crickets)
Deep fried zucchini doesn't suck. I hope to make some with the zucchini from our garden this year.

Hugs!!

Rant and Rave Wednesdy...I love Wednesdays, I guess because it is the time of the week where you can forget about last week and start planning the weekend. My plans are to walk 60K for the Breast Cancer Walk so I hope the weather is good and I won't be ranting and raving over the weekend.
Love your blog...very amuseing.

Good post, poor bunny! Zucchini sounds delicious!

Rant: today got stuck on i95 due to accident/2 lanes shut down, AC broken in my car, engine light on, fan running because engine overheating, took me 1 hr to get from Westport to Fairfield

Rave: at home, glass of red, some cheese and AC!! yay!

At least you have more raves than rants, right? And I totally agree about Raisin Maid being creepy. Ugh.

And POOR BUNNY! Dont do that to it. Cant you just like do something else?

LiLu - No. I've beer battered fried slices. I'll have to try.

noelle- I'll send you some recipes under separate email. My hubby hated them until I started cooking them this way.

La La - I hope your husband likes veggies so he can convince your kids to eat them.

JennyMac - I know. It would be soooo scary.

Stephanie - Thanks and now I'm going to have to try them.

a corgi - Thanks and you're right, it's annoying that they take forever.

My sister just sent me bunny preventive article, apparently they love the cabbage family. http://www.ehow.com/how_4758101_keep-rabbits-eating-garden-plants.html

Green-Eyed - I'm sorry that you've been out for over a year and I'm thinking guard of the brussel sprouts is not such a bad idea.

CC - that is awesome to hear!

miss rambles - that's why there is take-out

CTLW - I hope it doesn't rain for your walk - what a great cause!

girl inspired - bunny has enough clover to eat and he's also eating the cucumbers.

Sucks about traffic on 95 - one thing I don't miss about working is CT traffic.

Constructive - that is not as harsh as it sounds - the smell deters them and they don't get hurt.

otin - Really? I don't think I've seen that movie and now that I know that, probably won't. If I were a small child, the BK spokesperson, would be the boogie man to me.

What - no rabbit defensive system installation? Or maybe just a good doggie to stand watch. {*grin*}

Yes, focus on anything but disappointment! Try using it as a learning experience. Did they tell you why they didn't hire you? If not, is there anyone in the company who'd be willing to tell you?

I wish I enjoyed cooking more. I certainly enjoy eating well enough!

And yes, being unemployed does not equal tons of sleep. Rather the opposite I think.

So sorry about the job; how about posting the zucchini recipe so the rest of us can enjoy some home grown veges?

I would like to know why every time I go into McD's to get my coffee (their coffee is DELISH) they have to make a NEW POT. Every time with out fail. WTF?

Does my rant about almost killing the lady sitting next to me in class while cracking/popping her gum for 8 hours count?

Just checkin.

It is Sunday! LOL! Thank you for the writers link! And for your nice words.

Sassy - thanks. veggies are the best.

Dan - can you send me Molly?

Cheryl - I asked, via email (all was via email) and only heard crickets.

Erin P - when I figure it out, I will post. It was all done by sight.

Alexis AKA Mom - I hope not.

Midtown - I go to McDonald's for diet coke with extra ice --- I always have to stress that. Is ice scarce? Is it that the recipe is difficult to duplicate?

Matthew - I'll keep an eye for you this week.

Beth - I would have never thought to do that, but it sounds good.

Joanna - thanks. I did have a good weekend. not productive, but definitely fun.

PHST - Yes and she is supposed to be sweet, but she's creepy.

Candice - Yes, but I still think you should have kicked her chair everytime she snapped a bubble.

Otin - your welcome.
