Rant and Rave Wednesday

Wednesday, December 2, 2009...

Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. Without further adieu, here are my Rants and Raves from the past week:

Rave: Thanksgiving went off pretty drama free. Only twice did I change the subject. The first time was while I was eating. My sister went into too much detail about the lady who was mauled by a monkey. Monkey face lady (sorry, not a knock on this person, just shorter name) went to our local hospital and my sister is in the medical field. Did I need to know your butt can one day be your nose. She stopped when asked. Second time, I changed the subject when a tiff between my sister and nephew went on. It worked.

Rant: My ear problems have come back. I called last Wednesday for appointment and the earliest one is this Friday. Hoping I can make it without another trip to the walk-in clinic.

Rant: The great tickets YogaGirl got for us to see the Top Chef judges, well, Tom isn't able to make it.

Rave: However, Eric Ripert will be sitting in for Tom. Although, I would love to see Tom. I admire Chef Ripert, like his show and love his restaurant in NYC. Looking forward to it.

Rave: Spent the day with a good friend last Friday. She has 2 kids and time is limited so it was a real treat.

That's it for me. Any Rants and Raves you want to share? I would love to read them. Just click on the linky thing for anyone that wants to participate in Rant and Rave Wednesday. Please be respectful and do not use the linky thing if you are just promoting your blog (yes, this is another Rant of mine).

It's always nice when Turkey Day goes off without major or minor drama. The older I get (barring if someday we have grandkids in attendance) the smoother it seems to go.

You can have any tickets i get to a Chef show - I'll trade for a few software conferences. {*grin*}

Your gunna meet the people from Top Chef!! Ohhhh lucky you! That's cool. Aww about Tom. He seems like a really cool guy.

I only had to change the subject about 4 times on Thangiving the whole day so it was good too on the drama. hehe.

Oh I hope your ear feels better.

Not promoting, just ranting and raving. Your rants aren't too bad this week. I love your raves! I change the subject around here all the time. Especially when we're eating!
The top of my turkey turned black in the first hour of cooking it. The directions said I should cover it after it was brown. I was not expecting black when I opened the oven to baste it but I didn't rant about it because it still tasted great and no one here likes the skin anyway.

Hey, I remembered a trick I used for Oldest daughter with her earaches. If you can't go out and get Herb Pharm's Mullein Garlic, cut an onion in half and heat it in a toaster oven or conventional oven. Place the cut side onto your ear after it's warm and it should help with the pain.

Hang in there and take good care!

Hugs and love!!

Your Thanksgiving Rave about sums up our Christmas Day scenario generally! One does have to keep on top of potential 'flashpoints'! Glad it went ok though, its always nice to look back on gatherings which go well.

I am sorry to hear your ear problems have returned. :( How horrible, and especially at this busy, busy time of year.
However, saying that, I am happy you've had some bright spots.. Thanksgiving sounds like a delightful time, minus the comments and TMI on monkey mauled lady. Yuck. I'd probably fail to finish my dinner after that information.

I hope your ear problem gets better soon. I sort of have a similar problem this week - someone told me peroxide in the ear helps ???

I'm not feeling too many rants today, which is a good thing, given my mood lately. Although in-laws, particularly BIL.. There's a big rant for me!

Feel better.

Oh, I am sorry that your ear problems are back. I actually texted you one day, I don't know if you got it. I never watched the top Chef.

Rave: LMB made as always a tasty Thanksgiving day dinner. And I will confirm it was pretty drama free.

Rave: LMB and I went to see The Blind Side, a movie we both enjoyed.

Rant: People I work with have unrealistic expexctations on timelines.

Rave: Birthday week for me starts this Sunday!

Monkey attacks at the dinner table? That's intervention worthy.

LOL about your sister in the medical field and her "bringing her work home" and discussing it around the table. Hubby and me do this all the time (discretely of course with no names mentioned) and sometimes I have to stop and realize we are eating

sorry about your ear! hoping you can get some relief of it when you see the doctor on Friday

Too much Tiger Woods story!

I'm glad your Thanksgiving was drama-free. People in the medical field often forget that others aren't accustomed to the gore. I have friends who are like that.

I love "Rant and Rave Wednesday!" My only Rant right now is that the holidays are here and of course I am behind the eight ball AGAIN!!

Great that there wasn't too much drama for Turkey day. It was the same for us, but will be spending Christmas with overly dramatic sister.

Dan – Isn’t though. It’s a deal on the trade.

Melanie’s Randomness – I really wanted to see Tom, but I am very happy with his replacement for this talk.

Green-Eyed Momster – The reason your turkey burned is because the breast cooks quicker than the rest of the bird. You butter and season the whole bird, cover the breast with tin foil until the last hour of cooking. Trust me, it’ll never happen again.
Wait, what do I do with the garlic? Do I put on the onion or is it a pill? I’ve recently heard on the news that garlic is good for sore throats.

Theactorsdiet – I’ve very excited.

New England Girl – The monkey info was a bit much and if I didn’t stop her I would have probably stopped eating.

TudorCity – I know peroxide is great for ear wax buildup. Good to hear not too many, but sorry to hear about the BIL.

Otin – I just saw the text – yeah, I’m a loser for just seeing it yesterday – might help if I looked at the cell once in a while.

Herding Cats – SO DO I!!!!

Jules – Thanks. Can’t wait, can’t wait to see the doc so I can sleep at night (of course, that’s when the stupid ear really bothers me)

DB – hello? You forgot – going to Disney for birthday weekend, how fun will that be.

Captain Dumbass – Yes it definitely would be.

That corgi – So do you ever gross the other out? I guess that could be a contest – NOT… Can’t wait till tomorrow.

Secretia – True, but don’t you care who he slept with? I know it’s made a huge difference in my life – NOT….

Kys – The problem is that there is nothing to gross them out with. Not fair.

Ginger – Thanks. You’re not alone in being behind the 8 ball.

Very married – It definitely is.

Ji - ???

Barb - hmmm.. I wonder who that could be? LOL…

Alexis – Eric’s restaurant was wonderful – went for 40th birthday with some gfs. Awesome night.
