Wednesday, June 2, 2010....
Any readers following me on a regular basis know if it's Wednesday, it's time to Rant and Rave about the past week. I have to admit, being away for over a month has you overlook the negatives and only remember the positives. Without further adieu, here are my Rants (very little) and Raves from the past month:
Rave: I went to see the Addams Family on Broadway with Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. A show that was panned by the critics, was in my opinion, a lot of fun.
Rave: Someone close to me recently had a breast biopsy and it came back clean. There was a bit of a scare since this person has 2 sisters that are breast cancer survivors, so I am VERY happy.
Rave: Started my veggie garden and already have lettuce I need to pick and some green tomatoes.
Rant: The right side of my neck - OUCH....I slept funny last night and now I have a crick that is making it painful to turn my head.
Rant: Wondering why it seems to take forever to get into good physical shape, but you can blink your eyes and be out-of-shape in no time.
Rave: LOVE my Polar FT7 heart rate monitor. Unlike a Biggest Loser contestant, I may have the time to work out as long as they do, but don't have the medical staff nearby to revive me. The FT7 is intuitive and makes working out a snap! I workout within my ranges and when I'm done (although, I'm a bit embarrassed because I'm not at the treadmill settings I'd like to be at) I'm sweating and can check out how many calories I burned while keeping it heart healthy. Also, the little heart rate gizmo on the strap you wear around your chest is detachable --- you can now wash the dang strap (anyone who ever had an older model where the monitor is not detachable from the strap knows the straps can get GROSS).
Rave: Have been trying to catch up with friends the past month and it's been great.
Rave: Discovered headaches for the past couple of months were allergies. Thanks Zyrtec! My days are much more pleasant.
Rave: Discovered the greatest skincare regime is really pretty inexpensive - Cetaphil, Witch Hazel and a dab of Oil of Olay regenerist.
Rave: It's Farmer Market season again! I love fresh great veggies AND love supporting the local farmer.
Rave: Helped raise funds for my local park by participating/helping in the annual plant sale. Not only did we raise some money, but I scored some great plants!
Okay, that's it for me. I would love to read any Rants and Raves you want to share? Just click on the linky thing for anyone that wants to participate in Rant and Rave Wednesday -- or leave them in the comments section here. Please, please be respectful and do not use the linky thing if you are just promoting your blog (yes, this is another Rant of mine).

love going to the farmers market...hope that neck feels better soon...
Aw, your veggie garden sounds so nice.
Hope the neck feels better.
Rant: Been having lots of headaches as well, but not allergy related, hopefully I can figure out what is causing them.
Rant: Very upset at BP, this oil spill doesn't seem to have an end in sight.
Rave: My very dear friend had a breast biopsy and it came back negative. Praise God, I am thankful!!!!!
Rave: LMB IS BACK, I really missed you. Life is good!
Rave: Discovered Spicy Italian Chicken Sausages at Trader Joe's and they are TASTY!!!!! BBQ'd them over the weekend.
Rave: Loved having a long holiday weekend!
Well bless your friend who's biopsy came back clean. I just had fibroids removed from my breast last Friday so I know how scary that whole ordeal can be.
Welcome back! I want to see the Addams Family on broadway! I hardly listen to the critics.
Awesome on the plant sale! That's great that you guys raised money and had fun! =)
Good luck with the garden!
Glad to see you back!! Even better that your Raves far outweighed your Rants. Yum for fresh veggies! That is one of the best things about summer!

thank goodness your headache mystery has been figured out! allergies are so weird.
I am totally stealing that skin care regimen. :-)
Soooo glad the biopsy came back clean for the person close to you. Are you going to have fried green tomatoes?
Brian - Isn't the farmers market the best? The crick still annoying me and I thought the motrin would kick in by now :-(
Sadako - Love the veggie garden, have a whole bunch of seedlings I am just waiting to add to the rest of the garden when big enough.
mp - sorry about the headaches and the spicy chicken sausage from TJ is YUM-MY!
Melanie - Addams Family was fun.
Spot - I'm glad the raves outweighed the rants as well
The Actor's Diet - I'm happy it was figured out. I feel so much better during the day - no headaches and am awake!
LiLu - You should. I seriously can't believe it. After all these years reading about Cetaphil and thinking, yeah, yeah, yeah, but it really is an awesome product.
Technobabe - I am EXTREMELY glad for this person as well. The tomatoes are too small for that, but will be perfect in salads.
It's the best time of the year when the local produce ramps up. I LOVE IT!! We have oodles of it around here and take advantage of it. :)
How the heck is it Wednesday already? And heck yeah for homegrown veggies/farmers markets and Zyrtec! I love summer.
Rave: Fun weekend visit with friend from Chicago who I hadn't seen in 3 years.
Rave: Got some good news last week which made me very happy.
Rave: Had favorite ice cream flavor on Monday.
Rave: Turned a 3 day weekend into a 5 day weekend by taking a few extra days off.
Rant: Paid for it today by having to show up for 8 a.m. meeting and woking until 6:30 p.m.
Rave: Happy that LMB is back to her bloggy self!
WE hit the Farmer's Market this past weekend. YUM!
And you're right, why does it take so long to get INTO shape and so fast to get OUT of shape :-(
Have a great rest of the week

You've just inspired me to go to the Farmer's Market. It's been far, far too long!
I hate that you have to go back to sleep to get rid of a crink on your neck.
It doesn't just go away throughout the day.
The Physical Shape remark? Well, add size of bum to that! And I love Witch Hazel, the smell alone would refresh you! Have you seen the way it grows- all wiggly? It looks like a child's mad drawing. Well done on the lettuce, I've been talking sternly to mine but it just laughs at me.
BV – It is the best! I have to admit, when I first read your comment and you used the word “ramps”, I thought, this is the season for ramps, but have never used them in cooking, wonder if BV has….
Esmerelda – It is. That’s a good thing for most people.
DB – How is it a bad week when you have ice cream?!
Joanna – I don’t understand that either. It sucks!
Herding Cats – not only is the food great, but the people watching is always great at the one I go to.
Zoe Right – I still have the crick and it’s the NEXT day – ugh is the only word that comes to mind.
Heckety – I’ve never seen witch hazel in its natural state and the lettuce, well, too much rain could hurt it. That happened to me last year. Tonight we’re actually having it for dinner. Sounds dorky, but can’t wait.
I don't grow fresh veggies but very nice friends do and I keep getting lovely fresh produce given to me!!! YUM!!!!!!!!!
Rave: Finally started back on the diet this weekend.
Rant: Only lasted 3 days.
