Some days I find that I get so caught up in what I don't have, like to have or need and sometimes forget it the smallest things that will put a smile on my face.
Today, I was reminded of this when I opened my new toothbrush. I can't explain why, but I have this protective attachment to my toothbrush and WILL NOT share. I don't care if you're the love of my life, it's just not going to happen.
I also get a smile on my face when I sleep on new sheets or get a fountain soda with the right amount of ice for me - A LOT.
Granted, there are things I long for - 3 months cooking my way through Italy or a larger kitchen, but until these things happen, I'm happy for just the small things.

LMB, I can totally relate to the simple things. Not sure if this qualifies, but I got a DQ cone over the weekend after yearning for one and it put a huge smile on my face. I also finished a great book "The Land of Mango Sunsets" by Dorothea Benton and when I called my Barnes & Noble rep to place an order for training books, I asked if she could order me the latest book from aforementioned author and she said she woule have it in by Wednesday. That made my day!
I find that the vast majority of my enjoyable experiences come from the simplest of things, but I'd shoot for cooking (well, maybe eating) my way through Italy.
I love the simple things! The best part of my day is walking to the river with my puppy and sharing in her excitement, EVERY TIME, that whoo hoo! We get to go to the river!
I think that savoring the little things, makes life what it is. Fantastic!
I love new toothbrushes too!
It is so all about the simple things. I go all nutty at the first signs of Spring every year. There's nothing that makes me happier than spotting the first buds on the trees, the first robin, and the first chipmunk.
I also love the perfect amount of chocolate syrup to ice ratio in a chocolate phosphate, or a really good, syruppy fountain Coke.
I could go on and on, but my comment would be so long it wouldn't be simple anymore!
I'm always thinking about what I don't have at the moment and dreaming about the future. Today I spent some time sitting on my front porch and admiring my flower garden. I've always wanted one and now finally I have one. Your post reminded me of that simple joy in my life.
I wish I could do that- even when my man had like, some mouth disease- I'm like, sure babe use my toothbrush.
cause I'm gross.
What a beautiful post! You are so right- we must take the time to look at the simple pleasures in life in order to truly appreciate all that we have! And I must say, the right amount of ice in a fountain soda can be absolute heaven! Ha! XOXO
Hear! Hear! Wind through the grass, smell of turf smoke in autumn, fresh raspberries and strawberries warm form the sun, the dog chasing a fly round the kitchen, lots of things!
i believe in small gestures over big ones. its the smallest things that count.people jst don't realise it enough1
Love clean sheets! I always get the best nights sleep on them. You're right...It's the simple things! Although a new pair of shoes has me floating on cloud nine!!
Clean sheets = great.
Clean, ironed sheets = fabulous. Clean, ironed sheets and no alarm = marvellous.
Clean, ironed sheets, no alarm and, and, and, and ... I love the small things but always want the 'and'!!
I'm the same way, there is nothing better than clean fresh sheets! Makes me happy!
It's the small things that count and they happen every day. Good for you. I like a new toothbrush too and could never, EVER let anyone touch it! Bleh. :O)
xx
