I'm unemployed and bought a meat slicer. Why? Good question, but am extremely excited over the purchase (actually, I will use it).
I love kitchen gadgets and wonder if there are support groups for people with too many cookbooks or kitchen gadgets/appliances. If so, my sister says I need to join.

Good for you! We'd have one if my husband had anything to say about it.
A great restaurant (Il Palio in Shelton) has a big slicer in the dining room. They slice this delicious prosciutto and give it to every table with cheese and olives and bread.
You could do that every night?
KK - that is why I got the meat slicer. My hubby has befriended the deli and butchers at the supermarket and always showing up with large blocks of proscuitto. It was like being given a locked chest of gold with no key. What's a girl to do with a block of proscuitto?
I love your suggestion.
If you want a meat slicer, Linens & Things, 30% off --- a Waring Pro Slicer cost $70.....
That is fabulous, I would be wicked excited as well! Happy Thanksgiving!
